I forgot about the sheer body of spammers before. Oh, well. That's what IP bans are for...

When it rains it pours. They don't usually show up, but when they do, it's dozens upon dozens at once.

I just wish I've been doing a good enough job at loosing bodkins into their throats and then melting silently back into the woodland foliage (by which I mean flagging the spam content as soon as I see it).

Yep, we are getting a lot, and I have been dropping the ban hammer quite a bit myself the past few days. Clearly this website has been found by the dregs of internet society at least.

I do appreciate the reports and I'm on here multiple times a day to keep the peace.

I upped the anti where any new users must verify by email. Hopefully that will slow down the spamming. I don't want to escalate to where we need to approve new board members, but I will if necessary.

Well, if the IP bans work at all it may slow them down even more

I removed a lot of suspicious accounts over the past two days or so. Hopefully that will stem the tide for a while.

Thanks for all who report these when they hit. I just had to dump 13 posts from the same spammer. Ironically they actually created a thread to ask about advertising on here. Given the Russian real estate spam that they were posting I felt justified in banning and then post deleting.

The ads are something that I need to work on with this site. Its on the "To Do list" when I get some free time coming up. I have quite a bit of PTO left that I need to burn up so I think that I can carve out a day or two and add some things to the site.
