So my coworker decided he wasn't going to get around to his Ork army and parted with it for $250. I was wanting to build a Kult of Speed army for 3rd edition, so a bunch of the stuff is going to be less than ideal. My main concern is figuring out where to get the cheapest truck I can get to mount all these guys up. And don't get me started on how much absolutely detest pewter...

Well I guess that rules out any of the upcoming Made To Order 40k Ork purchases from GW then.

If you're looking for maximum economy with Trukk models, the first thought that comes to mind is raiding some army truck models from the real life/historical model companies and then making them Orky with spare bitz. I'm sure Zvezda, Revell or Trumpeter will have at least a couple of army truck models in the right scale that could be suitable conversion bases.

You are in luck, kitbashing an Ork Trukk is a time honored rite of passage for the ork general. There are more than a few Youtube videos out there detailing how to scratch build or kitbash an Ork Trukk. My personal favorite is this one:

This looks like another good one:

I think that this guy goes into a lot of detail in other video's on how he builds them.
