Classichammer Day October 27th, 2024

Post by Just Tony »

We'll be meeting at Sage's Shoppe in West Lafayette, Indiana around noon. I'll update with a rundown once the festivities end.

Is that your chaos army? I think I recognize the banners, but the spawn-like things are new to me.

Yep! Ashley painted up those Spawns for the force as I've never really been one to see the value in them. However, at 75 a pop the Slaanesh ones are pretty boss.

As far as matches? Ashley's Skaven vs. John's Orcs and Goblins. I didn't see the whole battle but it looked like it swung a few times. Ashley lived the dream and pulled off a move I've wanted to pull off ever since the start of that edition: Skitterleaping the Grey Seer next to the Night Goblins and sending the Fanatics in random directions.

I wound up against Bret's Dogs Of War with that Chaos army and he wound up conceding after his Ogres and Marksmen of Miranglio panicked off the table after the Paymaster died. At that time I had all three Warriors units at or very near full strength so it was probably a good choice.

Put some focus on Tzeentch and chaos can live the dream too with the indigo fire (or the sword of change, though that takes more planning).

I always found Slaanesh or Tzeentch the niftiest Spawn too. The 3d6 movement is really nice, and IIRC the Tzeentch one breathes fire?

It's not canon. It's not lore. It's fluff. It's marketing copy to sell toys. Don't take it more seriously than it deserves.

Yep. Not the strongest fire, but fire nonetheless.

Chaos ranged attacks: you take what you can get.

Or take Dogs Of War, which is why I have an Ungor cannon crew on my WIP shelf and some Dark Elf crossbows ready to slap onto some extra Marauders if this trade ever goes through. I like having dedicated DOW units to the armies I run. Ashley calls it frivolous, but I call it aesthetically pleasing.
