Re: Square/Box Formation
I play from 1994, so from the 4th edition, and the only case I remember is a unit of dwarfs with a character planting an Oathstone. In all other cases the regiments have flanks and a rear.

Re: Stubborn or Immune to Psychology?
Yes, Hammerers. Longbeards are basically just marginally improved Warriors who don't Panic. That's it. You have this one niche scenario on the field that they benefit from their special rule. ITP makes them apply to more things, but if you don't go against something that causes Fear or Terror, then...

Re: Stubborn or Immune to Psychology?
In that case, if you are really going to take a 400 pt unit (which, maybe if you dont have to, you shouldnt? but that wasnt your original post question) and you like to play back and shoot for a few turns, playing points denial and sitting an Immune to Psych unit behind lines of Thunderers might be...

Re: Stubborn or Immune to Psychology?
Tony makes a good point about the importance of break tests. One devils advocate point i would make is that the answer may depend on the points value of the battle/whether or not you are planning to “castle/turtle” and run a stay at home shooting line or whether you are planning to march right in t...

Re: Stubborn or Immune to Psychology?
I think he did mean the Stubborn Hammerers, but i dont think Stubborn affects ‘all LD based tests’- page 85 of the BRB states “Stubborn troops take all Break tests on their unmodified Leadership value.” It says nothing about all other LD based tests You are correct. Stubborn does not affect psychol...

Stubborn or Immune to Psychology?
Hail, fellow-gamers! I am re-organizing my Dwarfs for a themed army. I have to choose between two options for my main regiment: Hammerers (stubborn) or Longbeards with the Rune of Courage (immune to psychology). The cost is almost the same: 400 pts. for the Hammerers (including a Rune of Battle) and...

Re: Dwarfs 2000 pts.
I'd be horrified if my entire 2,000 point army fit in 1/3 or less of my deployment zone frontage. I also stiffened a bit when you said you use a table edge as a flank refuser. That seems to dare the dice gods to have you fail a break test That's the only way a traditional dwarfs army can fix its ty...

Re: Dwarfs 2000 pts.
This is interesting in that it's very different from the Dwarf lists I usually play against. Looking at it, I imagine that it tries to stay in a compact blob to gain the reroll using the lord's leadership as much as possible (does everything fit?) and thus win through attrition once in melee range....

Re: Dwarfs 2000 pts.
Not a bad list. Kind of with JT, I do a few things different in personal taste. Normally I don't go Lord level in a 2K point game, but this one is not bad, and I kind of like the loadout on it. I see that you did the "Thank" loadout on your BSB, and I rarely ever put runes on the standard...

Re: Dwarfs 2000 pts.
Hello, Tony! I had bad experiences with BSB with runic standards. They were just the days of the begin of 6th edition. And I was experimenting in the search of the optimal list. When I used BSBs without personal protection items, they always became a magnete for enemy attacks in close combat and end...

Dwarfs 2000 pts.
Hello, guys! We are scheduling a little tournment among friends, in february. I am planning to use my dear old tested, list that my friends hate. :D Not because they think it's cheesy, but because they say is "incurably dwarvish". THE DWARFS ARMY OF LORD THORIC Dwarf Lord hand weapon...

Re: 6th Edition Dwarfs
The short answer to the question is this: - If you already love the 6.5 Dwarf book, use that one. - If you have no strong feelings about either book, try them both out and see which one you like the most. For me, I am Team 6.5 Book all the way . It was the first Warhammer army book I ever became aw...

Re: 6th Edition Dwarfs
An appropriate caveat. You are right, there are other factors in parts out of North America that I don't inherently take into account. Obviously your environment matters out there so take that into account. If they are more traditional in their take then go with the older book, and vice versa. For ...

Hello, Tony!
We are exactly in the same situation. I asked to a friend of mine very competent. He said my laptop barely meets the requirements.

Hello, Jonathan!
Thanks for your advice. I will buy the game.
P.S. I am curious. What do you think is the ideal unit size? (in the table game my infantry blocks are 25 dwarfs each, the shooting units 10 each)

Re: 6th Edition Dwarfs
Hello, TinyLegions! Thank you for your reply. It is a very articulate and reasonable argumentation. I think I will follow your advice and keep using the 2000 Army Book. I would really like to exchange opinions with you about the building of a nice Dwarfs Army (we play the classic 2000 pts. size). I ...

Re: 6th Edition Dwarfs
Hello, Tony!
So, if I understood well, you think the second book doesn't have that "balance feature" that is typical of the 6th edition?

Do you know wich one of these videogames "looks" more like the tablegame: Total War Warhammer or Warhammer - Mark of Chaos?

Yes, I have seen many of them. especially because the owner use the Dwarfs as army, just like me. They are very interesting.

6th Edition Dwarfs
Hail, Fellow friends! I would like to ask you an unbiased opinion. In my game group we all decided to stick to 6th edition, because we all agree that is the most balanced edition. But we have a problem about Dwarfs. Should we use the 2000 Army Book or the one of 2005? Of course as a Dwarfs player I ...
